Harries, Patrick

Patrick Harries (1950-2016) was a South African historian who became Associate Professor for African History at the University of Cape Town in 1993. In 2001 he joined the University of Basel and held the newly created professorship for Southern African history, facilitated by the Carl Schlettwein Foundation. The BAB collaborated with him with regard to teaching courses and workshops and published the Festschrift ‘Explorations in African History. Reading Patrick Harries'(2015).
