Caprivi, the remote and narrow Namibian strip of land encapsulated by neighbouring Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana, has a contested colonial and postcolonial history. The Namibian historian Bennett Kangumu published ‘Cotesting Caprivi’, a monograph study on the area’s colonial history in the BAB’s Namibian Studies Series in 2011 and launched the book in Katima Mulilo and Windhoek. In 2012, the BAB Publishing House published the Namibian-South African anthropologist Julie Taylor’s monograph entitled, ‘Naming the Land’ on San identity and community conservation in western Caprivi.
