Navigating Social Protection Challenges for Namibia’s Informal Workforce

The presentation by Ndeshi Namupala (UNAM & Unibas) is part of the Namibian and Southern African Studies Research Colloquium by the Basler Afrika Bibliographien, the Centre for African Studies, University of Basel, and the University of Namibia.

 

Ndeshi Namupala teaches Sociology in the Department of Sociology at the University of Namibia and is a member of the editorial collective of the Namibian Journal of Social Justice. Her research focuses on labour issues, social protection, gender and youth issues. At the University of Basel she currently finalises her PhD research. Her presentation explores the lived experiences of informal workers and unemployed individuals as they navigate Namibia’s social protection system. It aims to contribute to a more inclusive and responsive social protection framework in Namibia
