The Symposium ‘Writing History. Identity and Society in Namibia’, held at the University of Hannover in May 1994 under the auspices of Professor Helmut Bley, provided Carl Schlettwein with the possibility of presenting the BAB and its vision as a Namibia documentation centre after Namibia’s independence in 1990 to a new generation of scholars working on Namibia.
