The UK Libraries and Archives Group on Africa (SCOLMA – Standing Conference on Library Materials on Africa) is a forum for librarians, archivists and others concerned with African studies materials in libraries and archives in the United Kingdom. Carl Schlettwein contacted the Group in 1971 in order to survey Namibia-related holdings in London libraries. He subsequently published his findings in the SCOLMA newsletter and suggested the establishment of a comprehensive Namibia catalogue. Since then he and the BAB have attended SCOLMA conferences on various occasions.
