Namhila, Ellen Ndeshi

Ellen Ndeshi Namhila is a Namibian librarian, scholar and writer and currently a Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Namibia. In 1998 she gave a reading of her autobiography ‘The Price of Freedom’ (1997) at the BAB and since then has engaged with the BAB and the Carl Schlettwein Foundation on numerous occasions and projects. She published two books with the BAB Publishing House: ‘Kaxumba kaNdola. Man and Myth. The biography of a Barefoot Soldier’ (2002) and ‘Little Research Value. African Estate Records and Colonial Gaps in a Post-Colonial National Archive’ (2017). In 2015 she gave the Carl Schlettwein Lecture at the University of Basel.
