The British historian Paul Jenkins taught in Ghana for a while, headed the archives of the Basel Mission/Mission 21 as of 1973, and from 1989 onwards was also a lecturer in African history at the University of Basel. His relations with Carl Schlettwein resulted in various BAB publications, amongst others the symposium volume ‘Recovery of the West African Past. African Pastors and African History in the Nineteenth Century. C.C. Reindorf and Samuel Johnson’ (2000).
