This book publishes the travel letters by the Zurich botanist Hans Schinz to German-South West Africa in the mid 1880s and as such during the first years of German colonial rule in Namibia. The letters contain insightful information on early colonial western scientific research practices, amongst others. Edited by Dag Henrichsen, the book provides detailed annotated references on places, people and topics.
