Centre for African Studies

The Centre for African Studies Basel (CASB) is the international centre for interdisciplinary African Studies in Switzerland. Created in 2001 at the University of Basel, it functioned as a platform for the exchange between disciplines, faculties and institutions. This development is rooted in a long and unique concentration of institutions and organisations in Basel with relation to Africa. The CASB coordinates and promotes Africa-related teaching and research at the University of Basel and its partner institutions. The BAB is a founding member of the CASB.
