Basel Zoo

The Basel Zoo, establishing its Gamgoas House with a savannah landscape, utilised the BAB image collection in order to provide historical and colonial information on the Etosha nature conservation area in Namibia. Previously, the BAB published Balthasar Staehein’s critical history of the Basel Zoo’s participation in the exhibits of peoples during colonial times, ‘Völkerschauen im Zoologischen Garten Basel, 1879-1935’ (1993).
