BAB Publishing
The BAB’s founder Carl Schlettwein issued the first BAB monograph in 1972, a literary study by Peter Sulzer on Afrikaans literature, in the newly founded series ‘Communications from the BAB’. Since then, the BAB Publishing House has been publishing scholarly works on southern Africa, especially Namibia. Numerous monographs in various series have seen the light, with an emphasis on the humanities and social sciences. The BAB Publishing House seeks to promote cultural exchange and engagement regarding important contemporary historical issues and, in particular, to provide African scholars with a platform. The (cultural-) historical, political and anthropological publications are aimed at international academic audiences as well as engaged readers broadly interested in Africa.
