The presentation by Barnabas Ticha Muvhuti (Rice University) is part of the Namibian and Southern African Studies Research Colloquium by the Basler Afrika Bibliographien, the Centre for African Studies, University of Basel, and the University of Namibia.

Barnabas Ticha Muvhuti is a postdoctoral associate at the Art Department of Rice University (USA) and also a cultural worker, with research interests in the early modern art workshops of Southern Africa. His current research traces the artistic lineages emerging out of the early modern schools. For the colloquium he introduce his 2024 book Chronicles of the Road: Five nations, Five artists in which he explores studios and artists’ biographies in Botswana, the DRC, Namibia, Mozambique and Zambia.
