Afrika-Schweizer-Klub

by Celine Graber

The Afrika-Schweizer-Klub (Basel) was founded in 1934 by Swiss people having lived on the African continent for a least one year. Mainly a social club, initially open to only men, and associated with similar clubs in towns and cities throughout Switzerland, it fostered networks and exchange, reaching its peak in membership in the mid-1970s. In the absence of new and younger members it dissolved in 2016 and handed its archives over to the BAB.
