Audio-visual documents are mainly represented in the form of videos and several Super 8 and 16 mm films about Namibia and southern Africa. These are unreleased films and video collections that were created for private use. If you are looking for published films and videos, please refer to the library catalogue. The unreleased films originate from the 1930s to the 1990s and from European researchers and travellers such as Bernhard Carp, Fritz Gaerdes, Willi Büttiker and Hans and Trudi Jenny. Some of these films are available digitally. The video collections for private use were all compiled in the 1980s and 1990s, primarily by anti-apartheid activists. They include numerous copies of German-language TV documentaries and movies with reference to Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. These videos are roughly catalogued and may be viewed on the premises for research purposes. For more information: Archive catalogue |
